Technology environments in Japanese schools have undergone transformative changes over the past few years. In accordance with the Global and Innovation Gateway for All (GIGA) school program launched by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) in 2018, the Nagasaki Prefectural Office of Education sought to distribute a computer to each student in its district. They also aimed to provide high-speed internet access to support new learning modes, video, and other rich-media content as part of this program.

The Nagasaki Prefectural Office of Education has also been working to realize education that leaves no one behind by strengthening the educational network, while taking into account the geographical characteristics of Nagasaki Prefecture, which has a small number of remote islands and peninsulas.
